SPACESHIPONE

There seems to be no network coverage of SPACESHIPONE, other than the cable networks. It's amazing to watch this non-government race of entrepreneurs working on the challenge of space flight.

While watching, the network said there were two minutes to go. I blinked and missed the separation. This isn't watching a race to see an accident; it's watching and hoping for success. There was a moment when the ship began to spin. The spin increased, but finally it was under control. Now the ship is gliding gently down toward earth.

The announcer said the requirement was reached; . . . success. One height which was mentioned was 330,000 feet; but, the rockets seemed to be shut off early to regain control from the spin. Nevertheless, the height seems to have been achieved and the SPACESHIPONE, upon successful landing, will be prepared for the required second run within two weeks. The crew is anticipating the second run on Monday.

This is like watching Charles Lindbergh, or the Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk. It looks like commuter space flight in the making.

Four minutes to landing--which has been described as the most dangerous part. The spectators can see the craft with the naked eye. Looks like there is a single engine craft ahead of the one. On a wider shot, there are four crafts and it's difficult to see which is which. They don't always focus solely on the ONE. Here is comes, gliding, TOUCHDOWNE.....BEAUTIFUL.

IRAQ the MODEL

Ali, Iraq the Model

Bush was telling the exact truth about the electricity, while what Allawi said about security cannot be proved or contradicted that easily. Still there’s a lot of truth in his statement, and I mean when was the last time you heard in the news about Duhok, Samawa, Diwanyia, Kerbela, Irbil, Ammarah, Kut, Hilla and generally governerates out of the so-called Sunni triangle? Even in that area it’s not as gloomy as it’s portrayed by the MSM, as there are of course few towns that suffer terrible security situation, but even in governerates like Anbar, have you heard the words Rawa, Haditha, Ana, Rutba or Heet lately? Well these are all large cities in Anbar that seem to be not having any serious problems regarding security otherwise we’d hear them mentioned at least once a week as the MSM is not missing to report even ordinary crimes that have no political meaning what so ever! Still Allawi wasn’t painting a rosy picture, as he made it clear that the task is a very difficult one and Iraq need all the help she can get to succeed in it.

Allawi’s speech was articulate, impressive and honest and most Iraqis I talked to lately share the same opinion with me, but much more impressive was the reaction of all members of the congress who were there. That was the American people there, the whole American nation not just republicans, standing and cheering not Allawi but what he stood for; IRAQ. They were showing support and friendship to Iraq not Allawi and that was a rare moment in history where the two nations Iraq and America stood as equal friends, no actually it was more like family as one American friend described. Insulting Allawi and Bush and the whole speech, speaking so harshly of that unique moment is an insult not to Bush or Allawi but to both the Iraqi and American nations, and yes that goes for everyone did that.

(…)I’ll never stop telling what I believe is the truth and won’t stop fighting for that regardless of all the silly accusations and even threats sometimes. I’m not pro-Bush and I’m not pro-Allawi but I stand firmly with the new Iraq and with America. Iraq has run out of “historical leaders” and I guess there must be some people who still miss that time but they shouldn’t feel that bitter, as one can always visit one of our brother Arab and Muslim nations to remember the “good old days” that we, the vast majority of Iraqis are ready to give our lives to make sure they won’t be repeated.

If you haven’t read the postings at Iraq the Model, you might read them first chance you have. They are powerful and passionate.

RANGEL

Did Charlie Rangel really say, "Nobody windsurfs in Harlem?"

No, Newt Gingrich said it.

Representative Charles Rangel from Harlem said, 'We want him to be campaigning like his life depended on it. I don't want him to be playing football or surfing or bicycling. I want him to tell people we're at war and we shouldn't be at war, to talk about all the things we used to have and that we've lost in the last four years.'" Unbelievable attitude.

At any rate, so here's Kerry out there wind surfing and Charles Rangel doesn't like it.

Limbaugh

I don’t read Limbaugh; so, I skimmed it and left the site.

It would have been a good anti-Kerry quote; but, apparently only Newt said it.

Kerry's Twin Senator, Kennedy, calls it a Quagmire
Dont you love media bias in the thick of a campaign? Top senator calls Iraq 'quagmire' for US, they say. Folks, It's Ted Kennedy. He may be tops in weight, in Liberalism, and in closeness to the Kerry campaign, but he's not Majority Leader nor even his party's leading Senator.

Kerry's Closest Colleague, Sen Kennedy, Spreads Defeatism on Iraqi Liberation Effort

The Kennedy/Kerry deafening din of defeatism; are they also Twin Terror-Weenies?

Another interesting on from Freedom’s Truth

Fallujah: US strikes taking toll on terrorists

AP reports that 100 insurgents were killed in this month's strikes on Fallujah, according to DoD.

The strikes have stopped attacks elsewhere in Iraq while setting off deadly feuds among insurgent groups holed up in the city west of Baghdad, said Air Force Brig. Gen. Erv Lessel, deputy operations director for U.S.-led forces here. "We're confident that, through these airstrikes, we have been able to thwart many large-scale attacks and suicide bombings that were in the planning process," Lessel said in a briefing with reporters. "We've gotten some of his associates and emerging leadership in his organization."

SURRENDER KERRY

Kerry promotes "petty-peace." This is the short peace which lulls you in the false sense of security. That brief time when you settle back a bit . . .BEFORE ALL HELL BREAKS LOSE! It’s peace with a growing cancer that may just kill US. We can’t afford to let down our guard. We can’t afford to be looking the other way. We CAN’T AFFORD KERRY!

Kerry doesn’t know which end is up. His sister spoke out trying to scare Australia; is she on our side? NO. Kerry spoke out against ALLAWI, who is on our side; does NOT speak out against France, who is not on our side.

Some wonder which side KERRY is on? He doesn’t know. We could tell him: when Kerry speaks the words of the enemy . . . KERRY IS NOT OUR FRIEND. When KERRY speaks against our friends and allies . . .KERRY IS NOT OUR FRIEND. Kerry is not for U.S.; he is not on our side.

What is Kerry for? He’s not sure; but, we are!

KERRY IS FOR KERRY. Whatever he has to do to be President, whatever he has to say to be President; Kerry is for Kerry. He tried to surrender US before; he is trying to surrender US, again.

Kerry is the #1 SURRENDER MONKEY. Well Kerry, NOT IN MY NAME and NOT IN OUR NAME. Don’t wave the white surrender flag around US.

Kerry is for SURRENDER. (He needs to find the nearest Al Qaeda office and surrender himself because he is not surrendering US!) If Kerry is for SURRENDER, let him SURRENDER HIMSELF.

PUMPING BILGE

Did you happen to see this on Kerry's site early in the campaign?

26 JAN 1969 Ong Doc River

PCFs 94 and 66 escorted troops up the Ong Doc River early in the morning when they were ambushed by gun and rocket fire from approximately 40 men on both sides of the river. Two B-40 rounds hit close to Kerry's boat, while PCF 66 received 2 B-40 rocket hits. Three men on PCF66 were wounded. A junk containing South Vietnamese troops was also sunk, killing 11 South Vietnamese troops. Intelligence reports after the mission indicated that the Viet Cong troops may have planned the ambush in advance.

27 JAN 1969 Cua Lon and Dam Doi Rivers

Five swift boats conducted operations in the Cua Lon and Dam Doi Rivers. The units received hostile fire twice during the operation.

29 JAN 1969 Cua Lon Rivers

Early in the morning seven swift boats embarked on a mission to destroy enemy installations along the Cua Lon River. While Kerry's boat and another (PCF72) were probing a canal along the river, Kerry's boat came under heavy fire and was hit by a B-40 rocket in the cabin area. One member of Kerry's crew -- Forward Gunner David Alston - suffered shrapnel wounds in his head. His injuries were not considered serious and he was sent to the 29th Evac Hospital at Binh Thuy.

[Emphasis--mine. At the very least, this is deceptive. It is twisting fact and permitting people to draw erroneous conclusions. The boat was not Kerry's until after the January 29, incident. I have seen no proof that the forward gunner returned to serve on "Kerry's boat after he was injured."

Kerry needed to "puff" his story.

KERRY'S OLD TIMES

POSTED ON THE SWIFT BOATS VETERANS FOR TRUTH SITE: (link on right)

Hello all. To briefly introduce myself, I am the former spouse of a career (26 years) Navy Master Chief and Chief Warrant Officer who served in 1968 and 1969 attached to the Mobile Riverine Force, Mekong Delta. He was part of the support and salvage teams from the USS Sphinx and at the time a 1st Class Shipfitter. His stories of what it was like patrolling the river at that time have stayed with me over all these years. However, my own connection to the cause for truth of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth is what John Kerry did when he returned Stateside.

It was not easy being a military family back then as all of you remember, I'm sure. I was refused employment, we were refused rentals (in San Diego there were signs saying "no pets, no sailors") and you didn't dare appear in public in uniform from about 1972 on or risk attack.

And attack they did ... the worst was the day of the raw sewage throwing as we left the base.

However, what has stayed with me as deeply as for some of you who served honorably during these trying times is what happened to our 7 year old son.

Shortly after John Kerry gave his infamous Congressional testimony, my 7 year old was called upon in class to recite what he had "done last night before going to bed." In typical 2nd grade speak, he recited a list of things like ... ate dinner, watched TV, brushed my teeth, said prayers for my Daddy (who at that time was on his 3rd Vietnam tour).

This is where the story goes very very bad.

This young child was told by his stringy-haired, flip flop clad teacher that,
"God doesn't listen to prayers for baby killers."

My son punched the teacher and I was called to school to "deal" with this unruly child.

When I was told what the teacher said, I told the principal, "get her out of here before I do more than punch her." At that point, I was threatened with police action.

So, do we have a beef against John Kerry that may be 30 plus years old, or should we move on as so many think we should. We did move on, we moved on for all those thirty plus years, put the whole thing behind us ... until this campaign. I'm a Mom and a wife who feels every bit as strongly about both Kerry's cowardly Vietnam actions and his disgusting anti-war actions and I cannot understand how any decent human being can support the man.

Thank you for listening. Thank you for speaking up for all of us.

A refresher for those who have forgotten the old "Kerry Times" Past. Made possible courtesy of Kerry and Fonda.

You may ask where Bush was in 1971, '72, '73. Who cares? We know wherever he was, he wasn't trying to give away the country. And, he wasn't speaking the words of the enemy.

BELDAR'S CHALLENGE

BELDAR issues a challenge:

A challenge to those who claim that the SwiftVets' allegations have been "debunked" or are "unsubstantiated"

My lawyer readers will immediately recognize this as an invitation to Kerry supporters to make a motion for partial summary judgment on the SwiftVets' claims.
This short paragraph from a New York Times article perfectly illustrates the liberal media's widespread characterization of the results to date of the SwiftVets' campaign (boldface added):

Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, which drew national attention with advertisements making unsubstantiated attacks against Mr. Kerry's military service, has less money and uses several strategies to stretch its dollars, said one of its leaders, John O'Neill.

Very little of the Swift Boat information has been debunked. Yet, Kerry and Crew (media included) have made claims the information has been debunked. Beldar challenges the Kerry Crew, and has set up (what he believes are) reasonable rules.

JEANNE

DRUDGE is watching the Hurricane and has a huge graphic of JEANNE. It’s a large storm; and, the fourth time Florida has been hit by hurricanes this season. (As all of us are well aware, I’m sure.)

Incredible: that 2 of the Hurricanes crossed paths, and now we have Jeanne coming on shore at almost the same point where Francis came ashore. Sewall’s Point seems to be about mid-point for the eye--extending up to almost to Fort Pierce and down to approximately West Palm. The rain is dense and almost horizontal.

Fewer people evacuated for Jeanne. It’s going to be a long night for Florida—and, for all the friends and relatives of those in Florida.

CBS, BURKETT, LOCKHART

CBS source denies plotting with Kerry

By Jack Douglas Jr.Star-Telegram Staff Writer

(…)Burkett, a West Texas rancher and known critic of Bush, denied that his work with CBS was done at the behest of Democrat John Kerry's presidential campaign.

He said, however, that during the meeting in which he gave the documents to CBS, he was also told by a producer that his phone number would be passed on to Kerry adviser Joe Lockhart

(…)During a single phone conversation with Lockhart, Burkett said he suggested a "couple of concepts on what I thought [Kerry] had to do" to beat Bush. In return, he said, Lockhart tried to "convince me as to why I should give them the documents."

If Burkett were speaking the truth, why would Lockhart want copies (of the documents) when he could wait for CBS to promote them? Why risk any contact with Burkett?

One reason may be that there is no fear of the FEC.

CBS and KERRY

COULTER"

The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth show the role of the individual in history. It wasn't Republican strategists who finished Kerry off two months before the election; it was the American people. The Swift Boat veterans came along and kicked Kerry in the shins and no matter how much heat they took, they were brave and wouldn't give up. The veterans who served with Kerry told the truth and the American people listened (as soon as they managed to locate a copy of "Unfit for Command” hidden on one of the back shelves at their local bookstores).

The Swiftees are an example of good, steadfast people who are willing to fight for what they believe . . . . .again. They believe Kerry SMEARED the military men and women, and made a severely difficult situation much more difficult for POWs; they believe Kerry was instrumental in achieving defeat for US when we were getting closer and closer to achieving success in Vietnam; and the Swiftees appear to be disgusted that Kerry would attempt to run for President of the United States—let alone, that he would run on his record as a “hero.”

It’s not very smart to anger the Swift Vets. Kerry didn’t realize that because he had only been in action with the Swiftees for 4 months.

And the article continues:

CBS was forced to run a fake story so early in the campaign that it was exposed as a fraud – only because of the Swift Boat vets. These brave men, many of them decorated war heroes, have now not only won the election for Bush, they have ended Dan Rather's career.

Today’s words are: never underestimate. The election isn’t won; Rather is still working. However, it is interesting to speculate about what effect the Swift Boat Vets will have in their challenges to the Kerry Records. The Swiftees have thrown Kerry off stride. Kerry can’t be sure what is coming next.

It's often said that we never lost a battle in Vietnam, but that the war was lost at home by a seditious media demoralizing the American people. Ironically, the leader of that effort was Rather's predecessor at CBS News, Walter Cronkite, president of the Ho Chi Minh Admiration Society.

It was Cronkite who went on air and lied about the Tet offensive, claiming it was a defeat for the Americans. He told the American people the war was over and we had lost. Ronald Reagan said CBS News officials should have been tried for treason for those broadcasts.
CBS has already lost one war for America. The Swift Boat Vets weren't going to let CBS lose another one.

CBS and Kerry . . . what a pair! New Media Fact: CBS? Oh yeah, they’re the ones . . . fake papers . . . false accusations . . . forgeries, but the story’s true! Continuously Biased Suckers.

GLOOMY DOOMY

Allawi mentioned "the sound of defeatism, only encourages more violence."

And, in the blink of an eye, there was Kerry. Doleful, doom-viewing, nay-saying Kerry speaking of his thoughts on the past, and a future of he knows better--he would have done everything differently.

Yes, Kerry, and the terrorists would have done everything differently in response to whatever you did.

In order to believe Kerry’s plan would have worked, would work, you have to believe that the terrorists would have done all of the very same things, in the very same way. I believe that is called, “UNDERESTIMATING THE ENEMY.” Not a wise thing to do, especially with this enemy.

Kerry seems to be the voice of defeatism. Oh, he says he wants success; but, he's spent much time honing the defeatism. Kerry is doomy and gloomy. Kerry encourages defeatism, and encourages quitting. If he had a tail, it would be between his legs--hangdog style.

Once again, Kerry has changed positions and would not have gone to war. Somehow, since Saddam Hussein is no longer in power, it leaves Kerry free to claim we shouldn’t have done it; and Kerry can fall back on his “I voted for it, before I voted against it” and choose today’s opinion against the war. But, with his vast war experience (approx. 4 mo.) he will give us pointers—now that more information has been filled in. There may be no need to respond to this because Kerry will surely change his position (again) when it's convenient.

While the rest of us are working with current events, Kerry works with, and corrects, the past. Picture this future. Picture a Kerry Presidency: John Kerry would be disappointed that there would be protests against him, and against his policies. Kerry would notice more degrading information about his Vietnam service. Kerry would object to the constant din; and would dislike the hourly “pot-shots” at his droll personality and anything else the opposition could throw his way. During a faux Kerry Presidency, Kerry might want out early.

Kerry reports for duty; but, he doesn’t stay for duty.

[Yesterday's blessing: laryngitis]

ALLAWI on CAPITOL HILL

The Iraqi Prime Minister Allawi has just finished speaking with Congress. Well done, Mr. Prime Minister.

Allawi expressed his concern about the words of those who appear to waiver on the Iraqi issues, and firmly said, “. . . the sound of defeatism only encourages more violence.”

“Fifteen of the eighteen provinces could have elections tomorrow.”

“Elections will not be perfect.”

Iraqi families want the same things as American families. The “dreams of our families are the same.”

“For the first time in our history”, the Iraqi people are looking forward to “controlling our own destiny.” It would not be possible “without this country and the coalition.”

“The coalition must stand firm.”

“We, Iraqis, are grateful for each man and woman” for the sacrifices.

We “appeal to you, who have done so much.”

“We will stand with you, too”

“. . .working together, we will defeat our killers.”

“God Bless You.”

“And, Thank You.”

[This is not intended to be a perfect transcript. It was intended to grasp the essence of the speech; it was a hopeful speech. Allawi was expressing firm resolve, encouraging continued assistance; discouraging those who would demean the efforts--as encouraging more violence.

It was refreshing to hear someone who is hopeful about Iraq; rather than the normal media and partisan screeches of doom.]

Politics, PROPAGANDA and PUPILS

It’s rampant in the media; now, it’s in the school. There is too much of this activity going on, in public schools, in colleges. Persuasive propaganda is where you don’t expect it and where you don’t want it.

Today (Wed., Sept. 22), the following was posted:

My kid just brought home a project from school.

He is in the fifth grade and brought home a paper that we were supposed to discuss as a family. It is titled Decision 2004, the road to the election.

[Strike 1:] On one side it depicted President Bush, with his strong points and weak points. Of course there were many more weak points and all were exactly the DNC talking points to perfection.

[Strike 2:]On the otherside it depicted Kerry and his strong points and also his weak points, his strong points were much greater than his weak points. It lead off that he is a decorated war hero, advocate for Veterans rights etc. Then it commended him for his active roll in VVAW as a leader. It also commended his Senate voting record.

Now you might have guessed that I blew a gasket, all my son said is "I would hate to be my teacher tomorrow".

[And, he’s OUT] I responded on that paper to each and every point on both sides, I asked him to read the 14th amendment of the Constitution, and clearly stated how disgusted I am that he would try to brainwash my kids with DNC propaganda. I put my name, phone # and asked him to call this 8 year Veteran of the USMC and discuss the paper with me. Any bets on a return call?

[And, he’s OUTED]I also sent the information to Sean Hanity along with the teachers name , school and phone number. He will be in for a lower GI first thing in the morning, Semper Fi.

Marine4life

Unless the above is incorporated into a political propaganda class, the teacher should run for political office, or work for the party. In short, retire--to another job.
[Apologies to the writer: for adding blank lines for emphasis, and so that I could add my 2 cents.]

MIMIC the ENEMY

Kerry’s trips to Paris to meet with the enemy were just fact-finding missions. This is the excuse. Kerry’s crew claims he didn’t believe what his government was telling him.

Apparently, after one or more discussions, Kerry chose to believe the enemy FIRST. Thereafter, the Kerry words mimicked the enemy’s words.

Strange, isn't it; Kerry thinks if he becomes the President, people will believe him. He and his party have worked hard to see that few believe a sitting President; they have trained us well in the last few years.

Kerry expects people to believe him, now. (It's more than a bit delusional. )

If Kerry mimics the enemy, sounds like the enemy, we can’t tell that Kerry isn’t the enemy. Ah, but of course, Kerry would like us to trust him.

"FOOL ME ONCE . . ."

LIBEL

Burkett may sue CBS for Libel and defamation of character:

CBS DOC SOURCE SET TO SUE NETWORK FOR LIBEL
Wed Sep 22 2004 00:05:20 ET

DRUDGE

The lawyer said the CBS News producer, Mary Mapes, promised to protect Mr. Burkett with complete anonymity and CBS was to “expend both time and money authenticating” the memos.

There’s a novel idea: give the network phony documents and when they complain . . .sue them.

Burkett might have better luck spilling hot coffee on himself at Mickey D’s.

Too Many Questions, Kerry

According to SBD at Bandit’s Hideout

Reprinted from NewsMax.com Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004 2:16 a.m. EDT Navy Launches Second Kerry Medal Probe

But Monday's New York Post reported: "Lehman's disavowal of citation No. 3 has prompted a separate investigation."

Word of the second Kerry medals probe comes as complaints escalate over the top Democrat's refusal to authorize the release of his full military file.

Last week he told radio host Don Imus that all the Navy records he had in his possession had been posted to the campaign web site.

But Imus never asked why Kerry hadn't signed Form 180, which would authorize the release of nearly 100 pages from his military file which remain under seal.

Thanks to SBD for finding this article. There are many investigations going on (some informal, but thorough) and although Kerry may not be releasing the records, researchers are able to obtain more information.

Sad that the media seems uninterested in anything questionable about Kerry and falls all over anything that has potential to demean Bush. The media would claim no bias where there is bias. All you needed to see was the Swift Boat information stifled until it was mentioned by Kerry. Then you saw the media scrambling for more. It didn’t appear they were trying to assist the Swiftees; they seemed much more anxious to defend Kerry.

Looks like there is a reason why Kerry won’t sign the form 180. Smells like more to the story. If so, you won’t see Kerry signing any form that will cause him more problems than retracting Christmas in Cambodia, waffling on the first Purple Heart, and not responding to why he used Peck’s honor as Kerry’s honor on the January 29, 1969 incident.

This looks too secretive. There are too many unanswered questions.

SCAREDYCAT KERRY

By Edward L. Daley of Owner of the Daley Times-Post

“Here are a few more of my thoughts on the matter of John F. Kerry and the Swift Boat Veterans For Truth.”

JOHN KERRY IS A SCAREDYCAT!John Kerry is a scaredycat. There's no better word to describe him at this point in time. How dare I write such a thing about a decorated war veteran? Well, the folks who will surely ask that question upon reading this article assume that Mr. Kerry is what he claims to be. I do not make that assumption, just as I do not assume that the people currently accusing him of deliberate acts of deceit and treachery are correct in all their assertions, although I suspect that most of them honestly believe him to be a despicable character.

When it comes to the question of whether or not John Kerry is what he says he is, I'll just let the facts, as they slowly come to light, speak for themselves. My justification for using such a scandalous word as scaredycat to describe him has more to do with the fact that Mr. Kerry has failed utterly to address the many serious allegations leveled at him by scores of swift boat veterans than it does with what he actually did or didn't do in Vietnam. It's Kerry's blatant ducking of their specific charges which leads me to label him what I have.

After all, it would be easy enough for him to refute at least some of their claims by simply releasing ALL of his war records and facing these men in public, but he has chosen to hide from them. That is a cowardly act, especially when one considers that he is perfectly willing to allow his attack dogs to lambaste these veterans with vicious ad hominem attacks at every turn.

The liberal media, as well, has predictably gone out of it's way to make excuses for his behavior while simultaneously defaming those individuals who laid their lives on the line for our country over three decades ago, most to a far greater degree than John Kerry ever did. They're just all liars and he's just the innocent victim of their slander... case closed! Never mind that many of them, including all the officers who were in his immediate chain of command, have maintained for years that Kerry is an untrustworthy individual who was more interested in his future political career than the safety of the men he commanded.

This is nothing new, of course. Liberals, by and large, admit that they are far more concerned with unseating George Bush in November than considering if their own candidate is an honorable man or not. Moreover, they have never exhibited any love or respect for most Vietnam vets, which makes their sudden support for the junior Bay State Senator so bewildering to so many of us who aren't mindlessly goose-stepping behind him.

Since the beginning of his campaign for president, Kerry has focussed heavily on his four and a half months of experience fighting in Vietnam, never once mentioning his escapades immediately following the war, which many of his contemporaries considered to be treasonous at the time. Anyone who saw the finale of the Democrat National Convention cannot, while maintaining any intellectual honesty at all, refute the fact that John Kerry is playing up his assumed "war hero" status, nor can his supporters deny that they emphatically endorse this strategy.

The anti-war party is propping up a man who has openly confessed to having committed war crimes, and defamed his former comrades in arms as fellow war criminals. Yet he now behaves as if his military service is something he has always been proud of, and every sign-waving, teeth-gnashing, peacenik from Maine to Montana gleefully cheers him on while he shamefully extols himself as the gallant warrior/candidate. Furthermore, they want everyone to believe they are outraged by the fact that the very soldiers he denigrated before Congress upon returning home from Vietnam would now dare treat him with disrespect or question the contention that he's a genuine hero.

At this point I can only ask this: WHAT DO YOU PEOPLE EXPECT? This man did nothing but spew Communist-backed propaganda about how wicked and corrupt the fighting men of our armed forces were during the Vietnam era, illustrating his disdain for everything the military stands for when he, with a fair amount of theatrical flair, tossed his (or at least what he wanted us to believe were his) war decorations over the White House fence during an anti-war demonstration in 1971.

But that incident aside, I have yet to conclude which is more odious, the Senator's avoidance of the highly significant issues raised by people like retired Naval Commander John O'Neill (who has consistently charged that John Kerry is not only an unconscionable liar, but a perpetrator of criminal fraud) or the sycophantic, pro-Kerry rhetoric of most television news commentators, who shriek like pin-pricked infants whenever perfectly reasonable questions are raised about his brief tour of duty in the late 60s.

They, likewise, are cowards because they've intentionally framed the debate regarding Senator Kerry's military record in such a way as to completely evade the substantive aspects of what the swift boat veterans are claiming. They are also as un-American as all get out, because they would rather the people of this country remain ignorant about all this than risk losing another national election. That's not how responsible, fair-minded journalists act, but these partisan weasels are perfectly willing to sacrifice whatever integrity they may have had for the sole purpose of putting a Democrat in the White House.

Back in January, John Kerry challenged his opponents to "Bring it on!". Well, now it's being brought, and the hero from Massachusetts is running for cover behind a wall of name-calling toadies and their vitriolic comrades in the national media. Such behavior only lends credibility to Commander O'Neill's assertions and those of all the other swift boat vets who are taking on the whole Democrat political machine at the expense of being labeled crackpots, right-wing fanatics and worse.

If Mr. Kerry has a problem with what they're saying, or my own characterizations of him, all he has to do is prove us wrong. Just speak up and lay your cards on the table, Senator. Until you do that, I won't hesitate to call you what I think you are, and you can count on your former "brothers in arms" expressing their contempt for you to anyone who will listen.

Thank you for contributing your thoughts and words to this blog and for your support of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

It is strange that John Kerry can not appreciate protests when he worked so hard to promote protests. John Kerry is achieving protests again . . .but, they are anti-John Kerry. He doesn’t like them. He doesn’t understand them. Imagine that! (Some twists of fate are wonderful.) Hide John Kerry, hide.

COLOSSAL FAILURES OF JUDGEMENT

Reuters

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Democrat John Kerry has turned up his criticism of President George W. Bush's leadership in Iraq, accusing him of "colossal failures of judgment" that have turned the country into a haven for terrorists and made America more vulnerable.

Kerry and crew have been a continuous high-pitched screeching noise; they have hardly “turned up” the criticism. The constant din has made many tone-deaf to caca-phony. When John Kerry has the arrogance to lecture with the words “colossal failures of judgement,” he doesn’t realize that it applied to him and still does apply to him: throwing his medals over the barrier; lies about how many medals, or ribbons, or throwing them at all; meeting our enemies in Paris; promoting the words of those who wish to defeat us; leading a group of dissidents who seem to weaken us with every movement; these are the COLOSSAL FAILURES OF JUDGEMENT.

These are the signs of the person with so little vision he can’t look in the mirror and see the real JOHN KERRY. He is blind to what he has done to us; and now, he wants the opportunity to do it again. Kerry doesn’t see his own COLOSSAL FAILURES OF JUDGEMENT.

Like the “Energizer Bunny” Kerry keeps "MovinOn"; unfortunately, he’s always been going in the wrong direction.

Report: CBS to say it erred on Bush Guard memos

The charge of scandalous behavior by Lt. George W. Bush in the National Guard evolves, on reflection, into scandalous behavior by CBS and Dan Rather. Mr. Rather is standing by his story, but hanging on by his fingernails. The focus had been on whether CBS had relied on forgeries. In his second "60 Minutes" broadcast, Rather had the courage to bring onstage the 86-year-old secretary, Mrs. Marian Carr Knox, who said flat-out that the document suggesting inattentive duty was a forgery -- this was not a document typed by her or in her office.

DEBATE Questions for KERRY

There are many questions to ask Kerry. The two sites (below) cover some very, very good questions.

Questions for Kerry (Mudvillegazette)

More Questions (Peter Kirsanow)

10. You have repeatedly said the White House has questioned your patriotism and service (they have not - this is a lie) as a means to open the door to attack the service of Dick Cheney and George Bush. You criticized Cheney's deferments, yet you yourself applied for a deferment and were denied. You have stated you went to Vietnam because you wanted to defend your country, yet you are on record as having opposed the war in several interviews before you left. You stated you volunteered for dangerous Swift duty, yet the Swift boat mission was not a combat mission at the time you volunteered. Is it possible that you're accusing Cheney of draft-dodging and Bush of being AWOL to distract voters from the fact that you met with the North Vietnamese in Paris during time of war? Come to think of it, have we seen your drill records, Mr. Kerry? h/t D. Mendoza for the CNS article.

There is widespread misunderstanding in the media about the nature of drill obligations and whether Mr. Kerry would have been subject to the UCMJ during that time. While I am not a lawyer, it seems to me that he most likely would not have been: he was neither in training, nor was he on active drill status at the time he traveled to Paris. He was unlikely to have been wearing the uniform.

I have not read the laws referred to in Corsi's article, so I cannot pass judgement on that issue, however it raises an interesting question as to Kerry's judgement and loyalties. Whether or not he broke the law technically is almost irrelevant in my mind. Obviously if he did break the law, that is bad. But even if he did not: do we really want a man serving as President who, after serving in our Armed Forces, traveled to Paris, met with the enemy during time of war when we had POWs in captivity, then returned to this country and openly advocated the enemy position?
This is not only a betrayal of his comrades and country, but a declaration of principle that is alarming in the extreme. Combine it with his statements about Communism in his Winter Soldier testimony, and you have something that should give any serious voter pause:

I think that politically, historically, the one thing that people try to do, that society is structured on as a whole, is an attempt to satisfy their felt needs, and you can satisfy those needs with almost any kind of political structure, giving it one name or the other. In this name it is democratic; in others it is communism; in others it is benevolent dictatorship. As long as those needs are satisfied, that structure will exist.

Keep in mind that Kerry was a Yale-educated, 27 year old man, not an unsophisticated child. He appears to have thought that Communism was as good as any other system of government. In other places in his testimony, he states that Communism was not a danger and that the South Vietnamese could not tell the difference between Communism and democracy. Tell that to the Boat people or the S. Vietnamese army. Or the thousands who were slaughtered when Saigon fell.

Regardless of whether a law was broken, going to Paris to talk to the North Vietnamese seems an incredibly foolish thing to have done.

By comparison, it makes the furor over whether George Bush missed a flight physical and a few drill periods (and if one knows anything about flying, this is hardly remarkable - what is the point of taking a flight physical if one knows one is transferring to a non-flying billet?) look silly.

I doubt Kerry will sign the Form 180. I doubt we will get the answers. I doubt Kerry can answer; I doubt Kerry . . . . . .

AP, CBS in better disguise?

AP & Guard Records

Thu Sep 16, 4:46 PM ET
By MATT KELLEY, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - A federal judge has ordered the Pentagon (...)

U.S. District Judge Harold Baer Jr. handed down the order late Wednesday in New York. The AP lawsuit already has led to the disclosure of previously unreleased flight logs from Bush's days piloting F-102A fighters and other jets.
Pentagon officials told Baer they plan to have their search complete by Monday. Baer ordered the Pentagon to hand over the records to the AP by Sept. 24 and provide a written statement by Sept. 29 detailing the search for more records.

It’s fair if AP requested an order of the court concerning Kerry’s missing records? Is Associated Press impartial, lacking political bias concerning both candidates; or, is this CBS/Memos under the AP logo? Possibly, AP will force the Navy to release all of Kerry’s records; or, force Kerry to release all the records. That would be fair.

Somehow, it’s easier to believe AP is on a mission against Bush. (Wonder why that is.)

Navy Contradicts Kerry on Release of Military Records
By Marc MoranoCNSNews.com Senior Staff Writer

September 16, 2004(CNSNews.com) - The U.S. Navy released documents Wednesday contradicting claims by Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry that all of his available military records have been released. The Navy, responding to a Freedom of Information Act request from the legal watchdog group Judicial Watch, also referred interested parties to Kerry's campaign web site for government military documents. Navy Personnel Command FOIA Officer Dave German wrote in an e-mail to Judicial Watch that the Navy "withheld thirty-one pages of documents from the responsive military personnel service records as we were not provided a release authorization."

Contacted by Judicial Watch . . .what? Not by AP! (There must be some mistake.)

Congress vs. CBS

Congress isn't the investigative body I would like to see checking the media accuracy. I could picture the hearing. Once again, you would not have to see the designations of (R) or (D) to know on which side the voice belongs.

Possibly, Judicial Watch could force a suit against CBS, followed by a Grand Jury investigation into CBS airing the memos--because many experts disagree with the authenticity. Better yet, a citizens for truth organization--average people who don't care whether you are Republican or Democrat, you (the media) need to be responsible for truth.

Someone, somewhere should care that the media does not appear to be careful about the truth. Does the media have a right to lie? If so, the American people are the losers; the American people pay the price. We need the truth, not propaganda.

The price is too high when we ignore propaganda.

MoreOn MEMO

I guess Dan Rather is so used to telling US what to believe that he feels we should believe anything he says. The question is: will we?

The information that the memo is a fraud is compelling. It looks like a fraud, it smells like a fraud, and it looks a lot like a politically designed fraud. Even the CBS experts are turning on CBS, as they continue to promote the story. Even the secretary, who worked with Col. Killian, says the memos are a fraud. Oh, but the contents are consistent with the feelings of Killian!

How could you prove the thoughts of someone else, years ago; Kilian is no longer available to ask. The only way is to have the man come back and tell you, himself. Secret drawers and phoney memos do not make a story credible. Seems to me, the story keeps getting more incredible.

Tomorrow night, we can expect to have a séance with Lyndon Johnson. And, Lyndon will have an opinion.

THE STORY OF 43

PCF-43 April 12, 1969

By LTJG Peter N. Upton, UDT-13

PCF 43 never made it. Her position as last unit in the file,
aggravated by her heavy load, combined to seal her doom. For, as the lead boats were exiting the kill zone and scrambling to safety upstream, the 43 was just arriving; as the first seven boats churned and leapt forward in violent reaction, throttles to the wall, the 43 succumbed to her bulk, falling farther and father behind until she was relatively alone, hopelessly alienated in the center of the kill zone.

The Swift Boat Controversy has promoted an interest in these boats. The above link leads to the story of one such operation. It's written by Peter Upton, who was there.

SPEAKING OF TRUTH

CBS DIDN’T GET IT; apparently, isn’t going to get it. It’s about truth and who is going to tell the truth about the memos. Apparently, some experts told CBS about the problems with the memos--guess they were telling the truth because CBS has problems with the memos. Looks like CBS wasn't looking for the truth.

NYPOST

CBS has refused to discuss its source. When The Post asked if CBS could rule out a Democrat with Kerry ties as its source, a senior network official replied: "I can't answer that" — and hung up.

For Swiftees

Warning ahead of time: he is for the Swiftees, and not for Kerry. He found a way for people to donate to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, without costing you money. That's creative brain power.

I've been to the site and followed the directions.......and then, got a regular contribution ready to send out. I had a tight hold on that money, but truth is a good cause. I believe these Swiftees are trying to bring US the truth. Regular Americans are sending $5, $10, whatever each can squeeze loose.

If you are inclined to help out, too; check out the site. If you'd like to donate directly to the Swiftees, he has that link, too.

A LIEUTENANT IN IRAQ SAYS:

[Kindly spread the word-- pass it on, put it in your blog, or both:]

Hello Everyone, I am taking time to ask you all for your help. First off, I'd like to say that this is not a political message. I'm not concerned about domestic politics right now. We have much bigger things to deal with, and we need your help.

It seems that despite the tremendous and heroic efforts of the men and women serving here in Iraq to bring much needed peace and stability to this region, we are losing the war of perception with the media and American people. Our enemy has learned that the key to defeating the mighty American military is by swaying public opinion at home and abroad.

We are a people that cherish the democratic system of government and therefore hold the will of the people in the highest regard. We love to criticize ourselves almost to an endless degree, because we care what others think. Our enemies see this as a weakness and are trying to exploit it. When we ask ourselves questions like, "Why do they hate us?" or "What did we do wrong?" we are playing into our enemies' hands.

Our natural tendency to question ourselves is being used against us to undermine our effort to do good in the world. How far would we have gotten if after the surprise attacks on December 7, 1941 at Pearl Harbor, we would have asked, "Why do the Japanese hate us so much?" or "How can we change ourselves so that they won't do that again?"

Here in Iraq the enemy is trying very hard to portray our efforts as failing and fruitless. They purposely kill innocents and desecrate their bodies in hopes that the people back home will lose the will to fight for liberty. They are betting on our perceived weakness as a thoughtful, considerate people. Unfortunately our media only serves to further their cause.

In an industry that feeds on ratings and bad news, a failure in Iraq would be a goldmine. When our so-called "trusted" American media takes a quote from an Iraqi doctor as the gospel truth over that of the men and women that are daily fighting to protect the right to freedom of press, you know something is wrong.

That doctor claimed that out of 600 Iraqis that were casualties of the fighting, the vast majority of them were women, children and the elderly. This is totally absurd. In the history of man, no one has spent more time and effort, often to the detriment of our own mission, to be more discriminate in our targeting of the enemy than the American military.

The Marines and Soldiers serving in Iraq have gone through extensive training in order to limit the amount of innocent casualties and collateral damage. Yet, despite all of this, our media consistently sides with those who openly lie and directly challenge the honor of our brave heroes fighting for liberty and peace.

What we have to remember is that peace is not defined as an absence of war. It is the presence of liberty, stability and prosperity. In the face of the horrendous tyranny of the former Iraqi regime, the only way true peace was able to come to this region was through force. That is what the American Revolution was all about. Have we forgotten? Freedom is not free and "peace" without principle is not peace.

The peace that so-called "peace advocates" support can only be brought to Iraq through the use ofmilitary force . And we are doing it, if only the world will let us! If the American people believe we are failing, even if we are not, then we will ultimately fail. That is why I am asking for your support. Become a voice of truth in your community. Wherever you are fight the lies of the enemy. Don't buy into the pessimism and apathy that says, "It's hopeless," "They hate us too much," "That part of the world is just too messed up," "It's our fault anyway," "We're to blame," and so forth.

Whether you're in middle school, working at a 9-5 job, retired, or a stay-at-home Mom you can make a huge difference! There is nothing more powerful than the truth. So, when you watch the news and see doomsday predictions and spiteful opinions on our efforts over here, you can refute them by knowing that we are doing a tremendous amount of good.

Spread the word. No one is poised to make such an amazing contribution to the everyday lives of Iraqis and the rest of the Arab world than the American Armed Forces. By making this a place where liberty can finally grow, we are making the whole world safer.

Your efforts at home are directly tied to our success. You are the soldiers at home fighting the war of perception. So I'm asking you as a fellow fighting man: do your duty. Stop the attempts of the enemy wherever you are. You are a mighty force for good, because truth is on your side. Together we will win this fight and ensure a better world for the future.

God Bless and Semper Fidelis,
1st. Lt. Robert L. Nofsinger USMC Ramadi, Iraq

"There's no way that I, as a document expert, can authenticate them," Marcel Matley said in a telephone interview from San Francisco. The main reason, he said, is that they are "copies" that are "far removed" from the originals.

The Big Trunk (at Powerline) says:

It would be interesting to hear from disputants who might be dismissed by neutral third parties less easily than Rush Limbaugh and Brent Bozell, but perhaps the Post couldn't find any. In any event, when the Post feels no need to deride or counterbalce their judgment, leaving them with the last word as arbiters of the controversy, one can only conclude that it's over.

Rocketman adds--
******CBS's main "expert," Marcel Matley, says:

I knew I could not prove them authentic just from my expertise. I can't say either way from my expertise, the narrow, narrow little field of my expertise.

"That narrow, narrow little field of Matley's expertise is getting narrower all the time. There's no way he's going down with Rather."

WHO DUNNIT?

This in from: A HEALTHY FEAR OF BOTULISM

Now, if we could just find out who typed them. Let's see...it would have to be someone who was deluded about his own accomplishments because he must have thought the forgery wouldn't have been spotted...Someone who knew a little about the military, to get some of the details right, but who didn't spend a whole lot of time there, which accounts for the mistakes. Someone who had something to gain by making Bush look bad. And, of course, someone who knew the mainstream media well enough to figure they probably wouldn't look too closely at it...Hmmm...

Well, I can't think of anybody.

[And of course, it had to be someone who knew how to type fairly well. Oh well, we'll work on it. Another thought, it had to be someone who could keep a secret. If two people know a secret, it isn't usually a secret, anymore. Maybe FearBot will give us more hints.]

Mr. Klein dismissed the bloggers who are raising questions about the authenticity of the memos: “You couldn’t have a starker contrast between the multiple layers of check and balances [at ‘60 Minutes’] and a guy sitting in his living room in his pajamas writing.”

He will regret that snide disparagement of the bloggers, many of whom are skilled lawyers or have backgrounds in military intelligence or typeface design. A growing number of design and document experts say they are certain or almost certain the memos on which CBS relied are forgeries.

For many bloggers, this is a solitary activity. In the dark (way past midnight) there are still bloggers, blogging away, trying to bring the best of the news and views to a place where you can see them. Many bloggers are taking the time to tell you what they believe, and trying to figure out where the truth is.

Calling us a bunch of guys in the living room, in our pajamas, is almost as ridiculous as picturing us in tuxedos, tapping away at 3 in the morning. The point is not pajamas, the point is “checks and balances” and the bloggers have almost instant response, thousands of watching eyes, and active minds who respond to the counter polls: if they don’t believe you, they don’t come back. It’s 365/24/7 polling; and, it’s “checks and balances.”

Furthermore Jonathan Klein, the people will realize that the “checks and balances” on CBS and Dan Rather have failed miserably. Total, utter, failure to check; Total utter failure to balance; it’s total failure to bring out the truth. You, Jonathan Klein, are defending a total failure of the media to hold itself to a high standard of truth. We hold CBS responsible; and we hold Dan Rather responsible as the tool, working to perform the failure.

This Court of Public Opinion, P. J. Amas presiding, sentences Dan Rather to disappearance—retirement; Dan Rather’s term of TUBE TERMINATION is 50 years

MARCH 12 into 13

THE 13th is partly the 12th????

Navy Chief, with the help of Navy Wife, (at the first site listed) adds this to the mix:

Swift Vets

The Cua Lon River was the scene of another raid that encountered hostile fire on the 12th (Mar 69). PCF's 94 and 23 took MSF troops up river to WQ 110 728 where they were landed without incident and began moving to the west. At the same time PCF's 51 and 43 stood by to provide cover. As the sweep progressed PCF 51 probed north of the Cai Nhap Canal and PCF's 94 and 23 probed up the Cai Ngai River to WQ 155 750. Following these probes light small arms fire was recieved from WQ 085 705 and was immediately suppressed. The three Swifts then headed up the Cai Nhap Canal to WQ 082 750 where two of three watermines detonated, one throwing up a 50-foot column of mud and water. Heavy enemy fire was taken from both canal banks and could not be suppressed. The PCF's cleared to the south and picked up the MSF unit at WQ 086 732. The enemy positions were taken under mortar fire and artillery and air support was called in. A group of 20 additional MSF was brought to the mouth of the Cau Lon from the USS WASHTENAW COUNTY (LST-1166) by LCVP. They were taken by PCF's 94 and 43 to WQ 086 730 where a sweep lasting about one hour sighted nine Viet Cong and detained one female suspect. Other results included five structures, 14 sampans, and a large junk destroyed. Three PCF's received minor damage and one crewman was slightly wounded.

GLOSSARY FOR TERMS:

MSF = Mobile Strike Forces - mercenaries who deploy and go anywhere (Always accompanied by multiple Special Forces or "Advisors")
LCVP = Landing Craft, Various Purpose [thanks, John for pointing that out ]

NOTES: PCF-94 and PCF-23 were taken under light small arms fire during this 12 MAR 69 mission. Afterwards, two of three watermines detonated, one throwing up a 50-foot column of mud and water. Heavy enemy fire was taken from both canal banks and could not be suppressed. Three PCF's (PCF-51 - Thurlow's, PCF-23 - Rood's, and PCF-94 - unknown OINC) received minor damage and one crewman was slightly wounded. Here is where the damage to PCF-23, PCF-51, and PCF-94 is recorded. The day before the infamous 13 MAR incident with Rassmann. Thurlow's boat had received bullet holes in this encounter, not on the 13 MAR 69 incident. The bullet holes were already there and damage to PCF-94 was already there.

Side note: LTjg Rood was wounded in the face on this mission. {{EDITED: PCF-93 (LTjg Chenoweth's boat) had an engine casualty as they began to leave on 13 March. The whole crew was assigned to the PCF-23 boat. PCF-23 had already been damaged

Other: Kerry may or may not have been on PCF-94 for the 12 MAR 69 mission. Chenoweth (PCF-23), Thurlow (PCF-51), Pease (PCF-3), Droz (PCF-43), and Kerry (PCF-94) left that morning for the 13 MAR mission with MSF and Rassmann onboard. Kerry's PCF-94 report didn't go out until after the 13 MAR incident.

ALI, at IRAQ the MODEL

Another fine post by Ali at Iraq the Model

He gives his theory about what is happening in Iraq, and why. Ali connects it to Sadr and his bunch, and lays out a good case for his theory. Now, he believes there will be more attacks against Americans (in Iraq) in order to increase the American Death Toll and thereby influence the coming Presidential election. It would be no surprise that it would be tried, and we hope the military are especially alert for the actions.

Ali says in his last paragraph:

We understand perfectly that sacrificing lives and hard earned money for the sake of others (although there IS a personal interest here but it maybe not so clear) is a very difficult thing to do, and we know that it’s too much to ask, but tens of Millions of oppressed people around the world with brutal sadistic regimes laying their heave boots on their chests preventing them from even breathing freely, not to mention speaking out or doing something about it, all these people have no one else but you, Americans, to turn to. You are our/their only hope.

ABOVE and BEYOND

The blogger (Jeff Harrell) and Gerry Kaplan went above and beyond the call of duty.

Type Assessment of the Questionable Memos

When Jonathan Klein (on FOX with Stephen Hayes) calls the BLOGGERS a bunch of men in pajamas, in the living room, he doesn’t have a clue, a hint, a whiff of the expertise available from the bloggers. And, when he thinks there are no “checks and balances,” he should be thinking of CNN, CBS, and, AL JAZEERA—who force-feed us through the “tube.”

Pay attention OLD MEDIA; or, you might have to move to OLD EUROPE. Jeff and Gerry have produced a far more credible piece of investigative journalism than I had seen from CBS--before I stopped watching them.

The latest is that “CBS stands by the Documents.” I’d rather not be Rather (at this moment); Rather may rather be Snodgrass, by the time this is finished.

WHY? (at the Mudvillegazzette)

If you haven’t read this one you missed a good one. Actually, not just good . . . . .great! "WHY?" is one of the best blog posts I’ve seen for a while.

At Bandit’s Hideout forum:

Sevry wrote:
If Kerry did swing hard starboard as he says, then Rassman couldn't have been on the deck to starboard because he'd have been pressed up against the outside of the cabin walls. But if he were on the stern - off he goes to port.

I wrote:There may be more at work here than centrifugal force. A hard swing to starboard means the boat tilts severely. You have forward momentum, sharp swing, and tilt—probably before the centrifugal force is applied. If there is a correction (as described) in the other direction, he’s dumped….cookies, and all. I’m not sure Rassmann is as important, yet. He’s confused the issue about which boat, what happened; and, the thing we know about Rassmann is that he was picked up by Kerry. We know he fell off some boat, and that he was far enough away from the others that he wasn’t seen right away. He said he was the only one in the water. Thurlow and (at least) two of the PCF-6 crew were in the water, according to most reports.

Rassmann was not in a position to see much; doesn’t seem to know much. But, while we're on Rassmann, could he have mistaken ricocheting bullets for enemy fire?

Rassmann seems to be a distraction from the facts.

KERRY RETURN 3/13

Beldar Info

There are still a few more issues here worth developing.
1. Kerry took off after the mine explosion under nearby PCF #3, sustaining 'withering fire' from both banks for ~5,000 meters. In my book, that's 3.2 miles and several minutes before they noticed either that the firing had stopped, NO ONE HAD FOLLOWED THEM, they were ordered back by radio and/or Rassmann was missing. So to run away and return to the scene, Kerry traversed nearly 7 miles!! Even at full throttle, that certainly would consume some time.

Using: DISTANCE / (divided by) rate (speed) = time

Covert: 5000 meters into 2.699475 nautical miles

Then: 2.699475 divided by 20 knots equals .134974 miles per hour or approx. 1/10 hr.

Multiply .134974 (hr) by 60 (in an hr) equals:

08.987424 minutes at 20 knots or approx. 16 minutes round trip

- - - -

06.48 minutes at 25 knots or approx. 13 minutes round trip
10.80 minutes at 15 knots or approx. 21 mintues round trip

Kerry’s boat would not have been back to the scene within 10 minutes [more than the best time (25 knots); and, could have been unable to navigate at 15 knots due to the damage (if the damage report was accurate) which would mean at least 21 minutes round trip.]

NEW ANALYSIS

There is an interesting analysis about the incident on February 18, 1969:
(…)No one in the media has even discussed this mission, but it's important to understand how Kerry manipulated reports to portray himself as hero. In the report for this day, he appropriated to himself action that actually happened to LTJG Hildreth. What is particularly appalling is that he hid injury reports for men on Hildreth's boat in order to make his version of the events of that day plausible.

SHOT on FEB. 27

JK Combat Reports

27 FEB 1969 Bay Hap River
On an evening patrol with two other swiftboats, PCFs 23 and 43, about 26 miles south of Ca Mu, the patrol took heavy fire, including five rockets. Three rockets narrowly missed Kerry's boat, and exploded on the opposite bank. Another rocket exploded near PCF 94, and the fifth exploded near PCF 23, wounding a crewmember on that boat. The boats suppressed the fire and withdrew. During the battle, a sailor on Kerry's boat, Crewmember/Trainee Michael J. Givens was shot in the upper right arm. Givens injuries were not serious and he was sent to the 79th field hospital in Can Tho.

Within the known data there is fact, obscured fact, jumbled fact, and deception. The data shifts and changes to be hardly recognizable. Alton, said to have been present after the 1/29/69 action, does not seem to be within the data presented; however, it is difficult to prove he was not there. Fred Short, said to have been Alton's replacement for the 2/28/69 action, is included within data. And then, we have the above information which describes Givens as a "Crewmember/Trainee" on Kerry's boat.

If Givens existed, and if the information is accurate, Givens may have been Alton's replacement, or Crewmember "X" was Alton's replacement and Givens replaced Crewmember "X." Because there do not seem to be any other injuries to Kerry's crew on the February 27 incident; and, because Short was a replacement on February 28, it appears that Short replaced Givens.

Also, there was a Givens listed at swiftboats.net within the miscellaneous category (where we find so many others who participated within the Kerry Records.) He is listed as EARL L. GIVENS, GMG3, Qui Nhon (10/68 - 9/69)

Brinkley: Navy Probe Could Doom Kerry Campaign

Sen. John Kerry's campaign biographer Douglas Brinkley said Sunday that if an ongoing Navy investigation into Kerry's military decorations turns up evidence of "purposeful" deception, it could spell doom for the top Democrat's White House bid.

Praising reporter Thomas Lipscomb, who broke news of the Navy investigation on Friday, Brinkley told WABC Radio's Steve Malzberg, "Journalists are going to have to see whether there's a discrepancy on [the citations posted to Kerry's] Web site - whether there's something wrong that's said there or not."

Might make you wonder what will disappear from the site, now. Will there be some fall cleaning?

A SCENARIO

A 3/13/69 scenario: Kerry’s boat was close enough to PCF-3 that when the mine went off, blew 3-boat feet out of the water, the resulting force from 3-boat’s tons of gravitational return propelled a wall of water into 94-boat causing a violent lurch of Kerry’s boat, which he thought was a mine. This lurch tossed Rassmann into the water.

There was not a near-simultaneous indistinguishable mine hit on 94-boat. The 94-gunner would not have been firing prior to the mine explosion under 3-boat. There were seconds of firing before the gun jammed; there were seconds to realize another weapon was needed; a few seconds for Rassmann to grab the weapon and get onto the deck and get tossed off the boat. Those seconds were most likely the time it took for the wall of water to hit Kerry’s boat. (Even a fat man doing a cannonball off a diving board looks like a mine explosion. Envision it: tons of the 50-ft. fast boat hitting the water.)

Sequence: PCF-3 was first to feel the action, then came firing to suppress a perceived assault, a gun jammed on the bow of 94, followed by Rassmann’s taking a weapon toward the bow, the wall of water hits Kerry’s boat—sudden violent lurch, water all over the place, Rassmann is tossed off, PCF-94 tromps on the gas.

THE SINGLE TOUR

Kerry claimed two tours in Vietnam. The first could be aboard the ship “Gridley.” However, the Gridley made a circular trip past Subic Bay, paused adjacent to Vietnam for a few weeks, and continued on to New Zealand. The ship departed for WEST Pacific in February 9, 1968, and returned to California in early June, 1968; it was a four-month sail. Hardly considered a combat tour in Vietnam.

Here is the first tour [ToD, p188]:
“PCF-44’s first patrol out of Cat Lo—“
Individually, the events of those four days seemed insignificant compared with many incidents later in Kerry’s second tour of duty.
Therefore, those first days on PCF-44 (in November/December, 1968) were Kerry’s FIRST Tour of Duty. The first tour did not last a full year; it ended approximately four months later, after 3 Purple Hearts and Kerry’s request to leave Vietnam.

When was the second tour?

If John Kerry is not trying to fool us, why this:

December 6, 1968 Kerry moved to Coastal Division 11 at An Thoi on Phu Quoc Island.

December 13, 1968 Kerry moved to Coastal Division 13, Cam Rahn Bay.

December 24, 1968 Kerry involved in combat . . .

Coastal Division 13 was Cat Lo, not Cam Rahn Bay.

What is it about Cat Lo that we are not supposed to see?

KERRY'S UNFIT CONCOCTION

Seems the accusations fit the "unfit."

Over 30 paragraphs and only 6 about Kerry:

The President's opponent is an experienced senator. He speaks often of his service in Vietnam, and we honor him for it. But there is also a record of more than three decades since. And on the question of America's role in the world, the differences between Senator Kerry and President Bush are the sharpest, and the stakes for the country are the highest. History has shown that a strong and purposeful America is vital to preserving freedom and keeping us safe — yet time and again Senator Kerry has made the wrong call on national security. Senator Kerry began his political career by saying he would like to see our troops deployed "only at the directive of the United Nations." During the 1980s, Senator Kerry opposed Ronald Reagan's major defense initiatives that brought victory in the Cold War. In 1991, when Saddam Hussein occupied Kuwait and stood poised to dominate the Persian Gulf, Senator Kerry voted against Operation Desert Storm.

Even in this post-9/11 period, Senator Kerry doesn't appear to understand how the world has changed. He talks about leading a "more sensitive war on terror," as though Al Qaeda will be impressed with our softer side. He declared at the Democratic Convention that he will forcefully defend America — after we have been attacked. My fellow Americans, we have already been attacked, and faced with an enemy who seeks the deadliest of weapons to use against us, we cannot wait for the next attack. We must do everything we can to prevent it — and that includes the use of military force.

Senator Kerry denounces American action when other countries don't approve — as if the whole object of our foreign policy were to please a few persistent critics. In fact, in the global war on terror, as in Afghanistan and Iraq, President Bush has brought many allies to our side. But as the President has made very clear, there is a difference between leading a coalition of many, and submitting to the objections of a few. George W. Bush will never seek a permission slip to defend the American people.

Senator Kerry also takes a different view when it comes to supporting our military. Although he voted to authorize force against Saddam Hussein, he then decided he was opposed to the war, and voted against funding for our men and women in the field. He voted against body armor, ammunition, fuel, spare parts, armored vehicles, extra pay for hardship duty, and support for military families. Senator Kerry is campaigning for the position of commander in chief. Yet he does not seem to understand the first obligation of a commander in chief — and that is to support American troops in combat.

In his years in Washington, John Kerry has been one of a hundred votes in the United States Senate — and very fortunately on matters of national security, his views rarely prevailed. But the presidency is an entirely different proposition. A senator can be wrong for 20 years, without consequence to the nation. But a president — a president — always casts the deciding vote. And in this time of challenge, America needs — and America has — a president we can count on to get it right.

On Iraq, Senator Kerry has disagreed with many of his fellow Democrats. But Senator Kerry's liveliest disagreement is with himself. His back-and- forth reflects a habit of indecision, and sends a message of confusion. And it is all part of a pattern. He has, in the last several years, been for the No Child Left Behind Act — and against it. He has spoken in favor of the North American Free Trade Agreement — and against it. He is for the Patriot Act — and against it. Senator Kerry says he sees two Americas. It makes the whole thing mutual — America sees two John Kerrys.

Where does Cheney call Kerry unfit? He did not.

Cheney made a very good case for it--based on Kerry's actions and decisions. Cheney did not call Kerry unfit. John Kerry is the one who recognized the description as "unfit."

The statements were not refuted; Kerry mentioned two tours and Cheney's five deferments as his great rebuttal. It's been all about Vietnam; it's still all about Vietnam.

KERRY CLARITY

One thing is perfectly clear: John Kerry claims to have promoted facing the enemy--directing the full fire of the swift boat by beaching the boat, by advancing regardless of enemy fire power. John Kerry said that he was the ONLY SWIFT BOAT SPEEDING TOWARD PCF-3 (March 13, 1969); actually, he was the only swift boat NOT SPEEDING TOWARD, BUT SPEEDING AWAY.

This much has become clear. If Kerry promoted advancing and beaching; why was he going away? Although some might mutter “cowardice,” one fact is obvious: John Kerry lied; and, John Kerry promoted something which he was not willing to do himself. He turned on his own theory. He didn’t combine his belief with his actions.

Of all the things which are murky, this is perfectly clear about the incident on March 13, 1969: John Kerry didn’t trust in John Kerry.

NAVY INVESTIGATION REQUESTED

Kerry medal complaint reaches Navy secretaryProbe request comes as ex-chief Lehman calls Silver Star citation 'complete mystery'

Art Moore

The request was made by the public interest group Judicial Watch after news reports revealed Kerry's campaign website displays a document listing a "Silver Star with combat 'V'" even though the combat "V" device is never given with the nation's third highest award for heroism.

TRICKS?

Another blogger saw it, too:

PCF-66

August 02, 2004
More: Why Ask Questions?
OK... I've been stewing all day on this

I had seen Kerry listed for PCF-66 at the swiftboats.net site, then it wasn't there. Someone else saw it, too.

[Additional:
Rumor One: That the Navy will be (or is) investigating the information concerning one of the medals. (Bandit at idexer.com)

The document signed by John Lehman could have triggered an investigation. Lehman doesn’t seem to know who, when, (how, or by whom) his signature appears on John Kerry’s third rendition of his citation. This should be cause for an investigation; the Navy should investigate the matter. The citation may disappear from the Kerry website, if it hasn’t already. There aren’t puffs of smoke to signal the “POOF!”; things are just gone. As usual, there is little in the news; and, some of the bloggers are working very hard to get to the truth.

Rumor Two: That John Kerry made more than one trip to Paris—apparently, to visit with enemies. According to Bandit, Newt Gingrich said, slowly and clearly, that there were more trips to Paris.

I heard it, too. I hope someone has valid documentation. Those who are solidly behind Kerry would not believe video of a conference, nor would they confirm it if they had witnessed it. The rest of us are in the dark . . .again.

There are always rumors and some are more interesting than others. I placed the above rumors on the blog because some rumors will gain substance, others will disappear and it is interesting to follow the gossip. Be aware, this is rumor/gossip.

In the rumor/fact category: I posted about the “A cocky feeling of invincibility accompanied us up the Long Tau shipping channel because” entry in Kerry’s journal, and labeled it as rumor. According to the same Bandit (mentioned above) the journal entry appears on page 189, (ToD) and I have verified it. It is there—complete with the phrase “WE HADN’T BEEN SHOT AT YET . . .”]

Anti-Kerry (fair warning)

If you would like to say the Swift Boat Vets were out to sink Kerry’s boat, you’re right. They would not have been able to accomplish it if Kerry were not running for President; they would not have bothered. The Swiftees would not have been able to pull together enough people who wished to spend their time fighting again. Many veterans had experienced enough. But, this is anti-Kerry. It’s all about Kerry’s choices and actions.

When they came back home they wanted a life without fighting, without strife; they wanted to have a normal life, again. They were not seeking public office; they were seeking normal lives. They could have overlooked injustice, if they had known there was injustice. It might have been irritating to see John Kerry campaign and win a Senate Seat. Irritation was not a strong enough reason to compel the average person to toss themselves in front of a camera knowing the press would inspect every molecule of their lives. John Kerry counted on it.

John Kerry was an in-the-face attention-getter. John Kerry propelled himself through the primaries, with the help of his “brother” Rassmann, with the assistance of Vietnam stories; John Kerry’s fame/infamy was, has been, and will be *Vietnam.* You saw it during the Convention, you saw it during the campaign. It’s about Vietnam, and about John Kerry in Vietnam, and about medals.

For the talking heads, the Republican Veterans, John McCain in particular, it is demeaning to discuss a war record in less than glowing terms. Well, John McCain is exempt, he is admired. We knew where he was, and what he was doing, and it was more than unpleasant for him . . .it was painful and it was long; and we are glad he made it back. However, this does not mean we must agree with John McCain; it means we should respect his point of view.

Respecting a point of view does not include a responsibility to see everything as he sees it. Because Kerry and McCain are “friends” does not mean ignoring Kerry’s bid for the highest office, or ignoring Kerry’s record. Because John Kerry’s campaign has been about Vietnam; and, he is reporting for duty; we are obligated to inspect his credentials about Vietnam and his service in the Senate. And, we should not accept a candidate based upon stories and hype; but, accept the reality and truth of a candidate.

As a member of the “Heroes,” John McCain should accept no brother but one who is sincerely and genuinely a Hero of truth, and of fact, and of actions. John McCain should not be so willing to accept a “paper” hero for us. John Kerry was not John McCain’s friend while McCain was a POW; and, John Kerry was not our friend when he performed during the Fulbright Hearing. As much as John McCain’s service is valued, John Kerry’s actions are scorned.

John Kerry was not the hero of the Vietnam War; rather, he was the focus of the media for his anti-war activities. He valued his awards so well that he tossed his medals over the barrier in protest. Whether or not he actually threw his own medals over the barrier, he went through the motions, he gave the impression that he did the deed; and, to say otherwise (later) means he was deceptive, purposely deceiving for all to see. He is the same man now, with some refinements. The refinements are superficial.

He organized protests; he swayed opinion; he spoke the words of Hanoi; he spoke to a representative of the enemy—when he was still in the military or was a private citizen, either way brings up the words “anti-American promoter” or “traitorous activist.” It hurt US; it demoralized US; it weakened US; it betrayed our troops; and, it was there for the world to see, courtesy in large part to John Kerry. The flag was turned upside down on the cover of Kerry’s book—a distress signal. John Kerry helped to smear us with a layer of stench and it has been 30 long years trying to get away from the smell.

During those 30 years we have been subjected to an Al Jazeera-like propaganda, which we did not deserve. During the Vietnam era, we were subjected to shouts of “it’s the oil.” After the war, no one mentioned much about it; seems oil had little or nothing to do with it. Before Gulf War I, it was the oil, again; and yet, we didn’t get it; we don’t own Kuwait or their oil; and the oil-voices stopped shouting. Afghanistan, “no oil for blood”; it’s the oil, it’s the pipeline . . .it was (in fact) just the same shouting, from the same groups . . .it slowed to a murmur. Ah HA! Iraq! “Not in my name” will you get the “oil for blood.” This time, Saddam Hussein pointed out the demonstrators.

Well, it’s been more than 30 years and I’d like to know where the oil is? And, I’d like to know why the John Kerry supporters are saying the same as the enemy—time after time, again and again? And, I’d like to know why we have to be subjected to John Kerry, after all these years? It’s a rhetorical question; I know the reason. We weren’t paying attention.

If Kerry had sought a quiet life, I wouldn’t have crossed the street to say a good word, or a bad word to John Kerry. Now, I consider him the POP-UP CANDIDATE—the nice outfit covers the clown-drag. He’s all dressed up; he’s polished; he popped up; and the humorous part is that the laugh is on US. We weren’t looking.

We are looking now. The photograph of John Kerry at the Fulbright Hearings was more than an eye-opener; it was another Kerry national slap-in-the-face. “Look at me, now! The Candidate for the highest office!” Well, some are saying, "Oh No, not you again!" It is amazing to me that every veteran in this nation does not stand up and turn a collective back to John Kerry. It is astonishing that any POW or veteran would stand shoulder to shoulder with Kerry.

A Kerry supporter just said that the purpose (of the sbvft) is to slime Kerry because Bush and Cheney never went to Vietnam. Almost 60 veterans, honorable medal holders, need to be slimed to save John Kerry from his past. If the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth are telling the truth, it wouldn’t slime, it would be fact. If the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth are telling the truth, it would be important for Kerry to make it difficult to believe the Swiftees. He tried that. If they are liars, he could have revealed the rest of the records. Kerry did not; he chose to slime the Swift Vets. Rather than show the records, Kerry chose to stop the Swift Vets.

Rather than address the facts, Kerry chose to hide the documents, change the timeline. John Kerry was a protestor whose symbolic actions of throwing away the medals and whose associations with flag-burners (and with our enemies) have shown US what he thinks of this country. John Kerry’s reluctance to let the truth come out; Kerry’s preoccupation with silencing the Swift Boaters; Kerry’s brothers calling Swiftees liars; all of this, demonstrates Kerry’s opinion of the truth. Apparently we don’t need it; and if John Kerry has a choice, we aren’t going to get it.

Q. When is it better to silence the opposition?
A. When you can’t afford to let the truth come out.

Net, News, and Note

Adam wrote:

Regardless of the veracity of individual charges made by the Swift Boat Veterans from Truth, there is one single and utterly verifiable fact which convincingly proves their overall case that John Kerry is unfit for command. To put it simply: John Kerry’s actions in supporting our enemies during the Vietnam War constitute a betrayal of the nation and its warriors that is simply unforgivable, either in this life or the next. As much as any other single individual, John Forbes Kerry contributed to the ultimate defeat in the Vietnam War.(…)

The woodwork began to rattle and out they came . . .in attack mode. The mobile minions with the sharp teeth start to gnaw away at Adam’s words. John Kerry should have produced the records. He seems to be stunned speechless.

SILVER STAR:
According to one of the blogs, Kerry may not have a choice. There is a rumor that the Navy may investigate the Silver Star Citation.

JOHN'S BOAT LIST

As the facts slowly immerge from the political swamp, there is an effort to pull them back into obscurity. Documents which were at Kerry’s website have disappeared, and timelines were changed—items deleted. Pages were blocked. Pages were missing. Information was put up and pulled off.

One of the difficulties was the description of the action on January 29, 1969. PCF-94 was in the action; the reference was “Kerry’s boat” but it was not Kerry’s boat at the time. The Officer-in-Charge was Edward “Tedd” Peck, who was wounded. It was a lie of omission. It was not accidental. The purpose was to “trump up” Kerry’s service. It was deceptive; it wasn’t accidental; and, Kerry knew he wasn’t on PCF-94, commanding the action at that time. It was deleted. It was deceptive. That’s a problem.

John Kerry is not Bob Kerrey; but somehow, John was credited with Bob’s record on the Intelligence Committee. A simple mistake of the spelling of “Kerry”, it confuses people that the names are so similar. But, the campaign staff should have known that “Bob” is not “John.” They were not thorough. And, John should know that he is not Bob; certainly Bob knows he is not John. It may be confusing because John does not know who John is—even though he has had over sixty years to find out who John is. If John Kerry does not know who he is, we can’t help him; because we don’t know who the real John Kerry is.

It was an advantage to absorb Bob Kerrey into the John Kerry record. The mistake has been corrected, but it leaves a bad taste. It’s particularly distasteful after the January, 1969 Peck/PCF-94/Kerry’s boat fiasco.
